Shades of Provence has six en-suite bedrooms; two on the ground level and four on the top floor, which can be booked individually or all together. The house can also be split into two mirror-image units if required. Each unit consists of three bedrooms.

The upstairs bedrooms feature both a bath and shower, while the downstairs bedrooms have showers. In each room we offer Smart TVs, coffee and tea facilities and there is free Wi-Fi throughout the house. Downstairs, there are two fully equipped kitchens and two lounges for the guests' use. (Please note: these facilities may only be used between the hours of 08:00-21:00).

Shades also has a sparkling pool, which is a real treat on a hot summer day. When indoors, you can still keep cool (or warm), as all the bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning units. There are two cosy fireplaces, one in each lounge and a barbecue area outside. (Please note: these facilities may only be used between the hours of 08:00-21:00).

Near Shades of Provence, in the Riebeek Valley, there are many activities that will make your stay even more enjoyable. For further details on these exciting opportunities, we recommend visiting the tourist information center, where you'll find a wealth of information to help you make the most of your time in the valley.


  • Guests are welcome to laze around the pool. Towels are available at the pool free of charge.

  • There is a cosy fireplace in each of the two lounges, perfect to catch up on your favourite book or show.

    We have barbecue facilities available for use solely when the entire guesthouse is booked by one group (wood and other barbeque equipment are not provided by the guesthouse).

  • There are a number of walking trails around town. Some lead up Kasteelberg. Also check out the famous History Route.

  • There are a number of restaurants and coffee shops in the area to satisfy any and every taste. Some of our favourites include the Bayleaf Deli, Eight Feet and Marras

  • Taste some of the award winning Shiraz and other wines at any of the many cellars in the valley. This include farms like Kloovenberg, Meerhof and Riebeek Cellars.

  • Superior quality olives and olive products are produced in the valley. A visit to one or more of the many farms can be recommended.
